The Telecommunications Association is founded on April 10th., 2002 as non-profit, non-governmental organization. It's members are already 50 reputable legal and natural persons, among which recognized public telecommunications operators, international and local manufactures and suppliers of communications equipment, legal and telecom consultants, IT and Internet businesses, the Sofia University "St Kliment Ohridski" and the Technical Universities of Sofia as well the New Bulgarian University, the University of National and World Economy, the Higher College of Telecommunications and Post. The Telecommunications Association target is to combine efforts, strengths and potentials of as many as possible participants at the Bulgarian telecommunications market.

Key objectives of the Telecommunications Association are:

- Co-operation in elaborating of the new legal framework,
- Consulting the national policy and regulatory authorities in telecommunications market regulations,
- Participation in EU fostered programs,
- Promoting an improved information environment for telecommunications players.
- Enhancement of qualification and professional training of its members' staff,


The Association supports the business and professional relationships of its members, their ongoing dialogue with governmental authorities as the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, the Commission on Regulation of Communications, etc. The Association's would like to bring in local and foreign experts in Committees on issues like information technologies, R&S, legal, economic and others, directly relating to its members' activities. M:tel

M:tel company was granted a licence for the third telecom operator in Montenegro in April 2007. The structure of m:tel owners is the following: 51% belongs to Telekom Srbija and 49% to Telecom of the Republic of Srpska.

Upon receiving a license to operate a mobile phone network, the most modern mobile network was built, within the period of only 77 days. M:tel company was recapitalized with the value of 40 million Euros in February 2010, and its value is about 140 million Euros, along with the initial investment.

Mission of m:tel company is to become a significant telecom operator, recognized not only for its quality service, affordable prices, friendly, open relationship with its customers, but also for its leading role in introducing new technologies and services. Key values ​​of our company are commitment, trust and innovation.

Employees are strategic resource of our company. The importance of professional and well-organized team has been recognized as a key factor of success. There are about 240 employees in our company. The average age of the employees is 33; 41% out of which hold a university degree.

The network commenced commercial operations on 9 July 2007 and 15 branches have been opened in 13 cities of Montenegro so far. Even though m:tel is the youngest mobile operator in Montenegro, it has expanded the points of sale system to the extent of having the largest number of retail checkpoints.

In just six months, m:tel has won a quarter of the mobile telephony market, and today has about 325,000 mobile telephony users and about 3,500 landline users, with over 98% mobile telephone signal coverage in the populated territory.

Apart from providing mobile telephony services; GSM and UMTS network services, m:tel company has also offered services of landline telephony and Internet-based WiMAX technology to the citizens of Montenegro. Installation of WiMAX in Montenegro is one of the largest in the region (according to number of base stations, the intended number of users as well as signal coverage of the territory of Montenegro).

WiMAX is a wireless access technology that enables both residential and business users to use the Internet and landline services.
