SIVA infoday in Burgas


On May 20th 2013 in room “George Baev” in Cultural center “See casino” in Burgas, Bulgaria took place an infoday of SIVA project “South East Europe improved virtual accessibility through joint initiatives facilitating the rollout of broadband networks”, financed by The South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme. Representatives of Ministry of transport, information technologies and communications, Regional administration Kyustendil, project partners, broadband network providers, representatives of the local business and stakeholders took part at the infoday.

The programme included topics as the needs for the project, the goals and results expected, the legal framework for provision of broadband services, current situation and broadband market challenges as well as information for the current broadband services in Burgas and in the country.

After the registration the moderator Ruska Boyadjieva presented the project team of Burgas Municipality – Antoniya Dyakova, Kamer Ahmedov, Petya Bakalova, Andreana Alekova-Laleva, Svilen Georgiev, Georgi Grudov and Gergana Dimitrova.

A detailed presentation of the needs for the project, the goals and results expected, the legal framework for provision of broadband services was held by thematic expert Svilen Georgiev.

Eli Kaneva, representative of Ministry of transport, information technologies and communications made an overview of the current status of the accessibility to broadband services in Bulgaria and presented the National strategy for development of broadband accessibility in Bulgaria 2012-2015.

After a brief pause for discussion and debate, the infoday continued with a presentation about the progress on the project by the partner Kyustendil District Administration. The presentation included research on Work Package 3 of SIVA project - Situation analysis and needs assessment. The presentation was made by Mr. Deyan Shalev, representative of partner Kyustendil District Administration.

Presentation of the state of broadband networks in Bulgaria and particularly in the municipality of Burgas was made by department "Information Services and Technology" in Burgas Municipality. During the presentation were presented the plans and challenges ahead for development and deployment of the broadband network in Burgas Municipality.

Representatives of broadband service providers made ​​presentations about the challenges of the market. The status and the types of the optic networks were some of the hot topics in the presentations of Nikolay Georgiev, representative of Comnet Bulgaria Holding, and Martin Ivanov, representative of BTK AD.

The last part of the infoday included an interactive exhibition space where the opportunity was given to the representatives of broadband service providers to promote their current broadband network packages.
