PPP4Broadband Days conference in Bled

University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering participated the PPP4Broadband Days conference in Bled, Slovenia, which was fully devoted to Broadband in rural areas. The program was focused on the problem of broadband development in rural areas and covered different aspects. The SIVA project was presented as one of the possible approaches to broadband development, while other presentations covered the importance of broadband investments and the use of PPP models, as well as case studies of the implemented broadband projects in Slovenia, Republic of Macedonia and Romania. The conference culminated with a roundtable with participants from the private and public sectors as well as Mr. Robert Henkel from the EU Commission, Mr. Franc Dolenc, the Director of Post and Electronic Communications Agency of the Republic of Slovenia and Dr. Andrej Kos from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Laboratory for Telecommunications. The participants of the roundtable discussed all the topics that are key to successful broadband development in rural areas.

The SIVA project is being funded under Priority Axis 3 – Improvement of the Accessibility of the South East Europe Programme, achieving the corresponding objectives through the Area of Intervention (AoI) 3.2 – Develop strategies to tackle the 'digital divide'.
