Common cost reduction assessment tool

In the context of activity A423 of the SIVA project, the development and pilot operation of a common cost reduction assessment tool will take place. University of Patras is the responsible partner for the development of the tool, while the pilot tests will take place in the Regions of Western Macedonia, Crete, Molise, Kyustendil, in the city of Burgas and in the Milano metropolitan area.

According to the initial plan, after the successful pilot operation from the SIVA consortium, the final version of the common cost reduction assessment tool will be uploaded on the project’s website and will provide municipalities, operators and any interested stakeholder a way to calculate the total cost of deploying a Fiber to the x (FTTx) and/or wireless network with and without the sharing of existing and/or common development of new infrastructures. In this way, the tool will provide an overview regarding the savings during the deployment or expansion of broadband networks through the sharing of existing and/or common development of new infrastructures.

The final version of the common cost reduction assessment tool is forecasted to be uploaded on the project website in mid June.
